Notes: Evinrude Motors, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. EVINRUDE LIGHTER, FASTER, QUIETER FOR 1968 – Evinrude Motors unveiled a lighter, faster and quieter line of Skeeter snowmobiles for 1968. The standard sports model is 60 pounds lighter, competitive with most units in its class. Due to increased horsepower, up from 14 hp to 16 hp, and the weight reduction, the unit is capable of speeds up to 40 miles per hour. The 1968 Skeeters also feature the industry’s first efficient sound silencing system, a combination of dual mufflers and baffling of engine noise within an enclosed compartment. Other new features include: A compression release for easy starting; a new molded, polyurethane track for improved traction, flotation and resistance to wear; and all new styling.
