Notes:
The Northwest Regional Library opened on July 25, 1978, replacing the former Germantown Branch. Northwest Regional was the third regional library in the Free Library system, providing the region with a larger collection than those of neighborhood branches.
It was renamed in 2002 for Joseph E. Coleman, a 20-year Philadelphia City Councilman, and its first African-American president. He worked for the development of the Northwest Regional Library. This is a copy of the architect’s rendering for the new Northwest Regional Library.
The library serves the Northwest Philadelphia communities.
