Demons Trying to Bend Tametomo's Bow

The famous archer Minamoto no Tametomo (1139-1170) with two descendants of demons on Onigashima island. His bow was 8 1/2 feet long, and took three men of ordinary strength to bend.

Katsukawa Shunsen was known for book illustrations and woodblock prints of beautiful women, landscapes and genre scenes. After becoming a student of Katsukawa Shun'ei in 1806, he changed his name from Kojimachi Shunsen to Katsukawa Shunsen. After succeeding Kastukawa Shuno I in 1820, he became Katsukawa Shuno II. In the mid-1820's, he stopped producing prints and turned to painting ceramics.
