This ca. 1967 view is of the building site for the Welsh Road Branch, which opened to the public on November 11, 1968. The library was one of the first in the country to be built in a shopping center, predicting that the unique location would stimulate circulation. It has fulfilled that hope, circulating in excess of 200,000 items per year.
Located just behind the Northeast Shopping Center at Welsh Road & Roosevelt Boulevard, the Welsh Road Branch serves the nearby communities of Northeast Philadelphia.
