Notes:
The decision of Mayor Moore to give the public an opportunity to be heard before he acts on the Hall ordinance increasing the price of gas to $1.10 a thousand cubic feet and giving $1 of this amount to the U.G.I. for a year is strategically prudent.
The Hall ordinance is subject to serious criticism on two points. The first is that it gives relief to the U.G.I. in the wrong way. And the second is that it increases the cost of gas to the consumer.
The people have to pay for the gas. They are the first party in interest. They should be consulted so far as possible in any modification of the price at the present time.
