Notes:
Well over half of 1977 Ford cars and trucks will be equipped with aluminum air cleaners like these, resulting in weight savings over steel parts of two and one-half to three pounds, depending on engine size. The metal for the new application is 5182 alloy manufactured at Reynolds Metals Company’s McCook sheet and plate plant near Chicago. Coils of Reynolds 5182 are shipped to Ford’s Sandusky, Ohio, plant for fabrication into air cleaners which are then installed on certain models of Ford pickup and Econoline trucks and on selected Pinto passenger cars at Ford assembly plants around the country.
