GM AND MEDICINE
Cooperation of General Motors Research Staff and the Michael Reese Research Foundation of Chicago led to the development of the Centri-Filmer, a device now used by medical laboratories and pharmaceutical companies for purifying vaccines in production, including production of a new polio vaccine. Left to tight are: Dr. Franz Oppenheimer of Michael Reese Research Foundation, who supervised medical development of the Centri-Filmer; Thomas C. Van Degrift, head of GM Research Staff’s Special Problems Department, and Egon Benesi, senior research engineer for Special Problems Department.
