Notes:
Research workers at General Motors’ Technical Center helped Buick develop an efficient combustion chamber for its V-8 high compression engine (foreground) introduced in 1953. Although 150 pounds lighter and 13½ inches shorter than its immediate predecessor, the Fireball straight 8 in background, the V-8 packs far more power. Examining the two engines is Margaret Osika of (367 East Philadelphia Boulevard) Flint, Mich., who has worked in the office of Buick’s V-8 engine plant since it opened in late 1952.
