Responsible for the development of Oldsmobile’s “Rocket” engine is this quartet of Oldsmobile engineers. They are Jack F. Wolfram (left), now general manager of Oldsmobile but chief engineer in the early development stages of the “Rocket”; Harold N. Metzel, Chief engineer; Lowell A. Kintigh, Assistant chief engineer, and Gilbert Burrell, Motor engineer. They are admiring the 1956 “Rocket” engine, which develops 240-h.p., has compression ratio of 9.25 to 1 and displacement of 324 cubic inches.
