Jack F. Wolfram (left), general manager of Oldsmobile and vice president of General Motors, explains the operation of Oldsmobile’s Jetaway Hydra-Matic transmission to twelve-year old Tozzer Spaulding of Brookline, Mass., at the GM Motorama. Wolfram assisted in the early development of Hydra-Matic Drive as an assistant chief engineer for Oldsmobile which pioneered this full automatic drive in 1939. Wolfram also is particularly desirous of interesting youths in engineering due to the shortage of technical personnel in the U.S.
