General Motors experimental Firebird II, a gas turbine passenger car specifically designed for highway use, is a product of GM Technical Center. Its engine and chassis were designed by GM Research, with cooperation from several General Motors divisions; its titanium body by GM Styling. It is shown here during tests made at the GM Desert Proving Ground near Mesa, Ariz, where it made engineering test runs.
