Here is Buick’s XP-300, a “dream” convertible with a 335 horsepower super-charged V-8 engine. The body is of aluminum with louvres from the front fender through the rear wheel housing. It has a crash type instrument panel, safety belts, hydraulic controls throughout, dual four-wheel brakes and built-in hydraulic jacks. It is 39.1 inches high at the cowl. Shown with the car are Ivan L. Wiles, left, vice president of General Motors and general manager of Buick, and Charles A. Chayne, vice president of General Motors in charge of the engineering staff. Chayne designed the car while he was chief engineer at Buick. The car was built purely for experimental engineering purposes.
