The bank of 18 two-volt batteries in the rear of the Henney Kilowatt, the new electric car exhibited at the sales conference of the Edison Electric Institute that opened at the Edgewater Beach Hotel in Chicago Monday April 4, 1960. There is a similar bank of batteries under the front hood. The Henney Motor Company is a division of Eureka Williams Corporation of Bloomington, Ill. The new battery-powered car uses a Renault Dauphine body. Designed for urban use, the car has a top speed of at least 35 miles an hour and a range of more than 40 miles a day. The batteries can be fully recharged by plugging into an ordinary outlet for eight hours.
