Photograph shows a frontal view of Lion Crushing a Serpent, one of the many sculptures in Riitenhouse Square. The bronze sculpture, by Antoine Louis Barye (1796-1875), expresses, through allegory, the power of good over evil. The Fairmount Park Association purchased this piece in 1891 and it was placed in the center of Rittenhouse Square in 1893.
