Birth and Baptismal Certificate
To these two married people, namely Johannes Dinges and his lawful wife Saara born Schwarzin [blank] a daughter was born into the world: Named Katterina Dinges in the year 1820, the 11th day of November at 5 o’clock in the evening in the sign of [blank]. This daughter was born and baptized in America in the state of Pennsylvania, in Centre County in Haines Township. Was baptized by Mr. Pastor Friss. Sponsors were Johannes Dinges and his wife.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text is handwritten in Fraktur within a large heart, surrounded by flower stems and two tulips. On top is a winged angel head. Two mermaids flank the heart. At the bottom is a large alligator.

Daniel Otto was formerly known as the Flat Tulip Artist.
