Geburts= und Tauf=Schein. \ Diesen beyden Ehegatten als: \ Christian Meßner und seiner ehe= \ lichen Haus= Frau Catharina eine \ gebohrne Schnederin ist eine Dochter \ zur Welt gebohren den 10ten Tag \ September im Jahr u. Herrn, 1800. \ diese Dochter ist gebohren in Breck= \ nock Taunschip, Lancaster Caunty, im \ Staat Pennsylvani, in Nord \ America, und erhielt durch die \ Heil Taufe den Namen \ Maria Meßner \ von Herrn Peter Williams \ Reformirter Prediger die Tauf= \ zeigen war Christian Leßle \ und seine Frau Maria \ M. bey David Bixler 1842.

Birth- and Baptismal Certificate
To these two married people, namely Christian Messner and his lawful wife Catharina born Schnederin a daughter was born into the world, on the 10th day of September in the year of the Lord 1800. This daughter was born in Brecknock Township, Lancaster County, in the state of Pennsylvania in North America; and she received through the Holy Baptism the name Maria Messner from Mr. Peter Williams, Reformed preacher. The sponsors were Christian Lessle and his wife Maria. M[ade] by David Bixler 1842.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text in Fraktur is enclosed in a frame. Two putti on a cloud are in the top center. Two angels with lyres, one holding a wreath and one holding a bird flank the text. Two birds holding a flowering vine in their beaks are in the bottom corners. The image is framed by a decorated band.
