To these two married people, namely Jacob Frey and his lawful wife Salome, a born Güldnerin, a daughter was born into the world, named Maria Freyin in the year of Christ 1813, the 22nd day February at 11 o’clock at night. This Maria Freyin was born and baptized in America, in the state of Pennsylvania, in Lehigh County, and in Lowhill Township. Above mentioned Maria was baptized on the 4th day April 1813 by Mister Johan Gobrecht, Reformed preacher. Sponsors at this holy act were the honorable Georg Hootz and Barbara Freyin, single back then. Written the 25th November 1813, Martin Brechall, Martin Brechall.

and pain, for this is the redemption of my evil deed; I am well-advised to bring this before God’s throne.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text is within a rectangular frame in the center of the document. The alphabet is above it within a crown-like trapezoidal shape. Two oval frames with the baptismal verses are in the lower corners. Two flowers are protruding from them. In the upper corners are two large rosettes. A variety of flowers, including tulips, protrude from the frame surrounding the alphabet. The artist signed his name twice, once in Roman script and once German script.
