Birth and Baptismal Certificate
To these two married people, namely Da[n]iel Ott and his lawful wife Elisabeth, born Berndtinn, a daughter was born into the [world] in the year of our Lord 1822 in the Township Bedminster in North America, and was baptized and received the name Maria in June in the year of our Lord 1822, from Mister honorable Strassberger. Her sponsor was Maria Ott. This Maria was born the 1st day April at half past six o’clock in the evening in the year 1822.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The central text is within a large heart in the center of the document, surrounded by leafy stems of tulips and stalks of grain or wheat. The baptismal verses are in small hearts in the lower corners.
