Haus=Seegen. \ Guter GOtt! Dir ich befehle, Weib und Kinder, Leib \ und Seele, Hab und Güter Werck und Stand, Alles sey in deiner Hand, \ Herr! Das Licht ist Neu entstanden, Und der frohe Tag vorhanden, Nacht \ und Dunckel ist vorbey, Alle welt ist Munter Neu, Danck sey dir für dein \ Beschützen, wieder Schrecken Forcht und Blitzen, Danck für deiner Engel= \ Wacht, wieder Satan’s List und Macht, Daß er mir nicht Schaden brach= \ te, wie er suchte und gedachte, Gib das ich und mein Gesind, Heut auch \ deine Gnad empfind, Deine Treue Huld und Güte, Für Sünd und \ Schanden behüte, Daß ich alles wohl verricht, Handle recht nach Christen= \ pflicht, Laß auch deiner Engel=Schaaren, Mich auf Weg und Steg \ bewahren, Daß ich geh, in Ihren Schutz, Dich Lieb und meinen \ Nächsten Nutz, Und so fort in allen Dingen, Diesen Tag mag \ wohl vollbringen, Diesen und so manchen Tag, Ohne Kum= \ mer, Klag und Plag, Ueber mich und all die meinen, Spüh= \ re deiner Gnaden=Scheinen, Segne mich in meinem \ Stand, Segne meine Werck und Hand, Segne Herr \ mein gantzes Haus, Und was gehet ein und aus, \ Segens JEsu! I. Eins. \ GOtt ist der Allmächtig heißt, \ Und eines auch mit Sohn, \ und Geist, Der alles Schuff \ und Uns bewacht, Ein \ Glaub auch der uns selig \ macht, Ein Mittler \ der am Creutz gestor= \ ben. Und uns das \ Leben hat er= \ worben.

II. Zwey. \ Testament hat GOTT ge= \ macht, Das Alt Christus \ abgebracht, Und macht \ uns durch das Neue \ Neu, Schau wie \ groß seine Güte \ SEY.

III. Drey. \ Ständ hat GOtt gesetzet ein, \ Und läßt ihms auch befohlen \ seyn Der Lehr und Wehr, \ und Nahrungs=Stand, sind \ unter deiner Gnaden=Hand \ O! Schön verknüpftes \ Eintrachts=Band. \ Dein Hertz o Mensch \ ist GOtt be= \ kannt.

IV. Vier. \ Letze Ding noch Künftig seyn, \ Darzu mein Hertz bereit dich \ sein, Wer das nicht thut bey \ lebens Zeit, Der ist verlohrn \ in Ewigkeit, Und fehlt \ des wegs zum Himmel \ weit, O! Seele dich \ darzu bereit.

V. Fünf. \ Wunden meines JEsu seyn, Die \ machen mich von Sünden rein, \ Aus diesen wunden Purpers= \ Roth, Fließt mir der Trost in \ Todes Noth, Daß solche wie \ fünf Frey=Städt sind, \ Da meine Seele ruhe find, \ wann sie von Höll, und \ Tod beschwert, So \ bald sie sich zur \ selben kehrt.

VI. Sechs. \ Tag hat GOtt verordnet wohl, \ Daran der Mensch arbeiten soll, \ wie übel wird dann der bestehen, Der \ alle Tag will müssig gehn, ver= \ bringt mit Sünden seine Zeit, und \ denckt nicht an die Ewigkeit, \ Hat auch den Sabbath \ nie bedacht, Den GOTT \ zur Ruhe hat gemacht \ hülf das ich dieses \ wol betracht.

VII. Sieben. \ Der wort sprach Jesus Christ, \ Als Er! Am Creutz verschie= \ den ist, Der geb daß an dem \ Ende mein, Sein letztes \ Wort auch meins mag \ seyn, So werd ich se= \ lig schlafen ein.

VIII. Acht. \ Seelen dort erhielte GOtt, Im \ Kasten für der Wassers=Noth, \ Der nehm auch meiner Seelen \ wahr, In aller Angst, Noth \ und Gefahr, Und führ \ mich endlich Selig \ ein, zu sich in sei= \ nen Freuden \ Schein.

IX. Neun. \ Unter zehn sind undancks, \ voll, einer erkennt die Gut= \ that wohl, Herr JEsu gib \ daß ich auch sey, Für deine \ Güte, Lieb und Treu, Dir \ danckbar allzeit hier \ auf Erd, \ Und endlich ewig \ seeling werde.

X. Zehen. \ Gebot hat GOTT gegeben, \ Denselben allzeit nach zu \ Leben, Weil aber ich zu \ schwach hierzu, Herr JE= \ su du das beste thu, Daß \ ich durch deines Gei= \ stes Kraft, \ üb eine gute Ritter= \ schaft.

XI. Elf. \ Jünger JESU! Treu ver= \ blieben, Judas ließ sich das Geld belieben, Gib JEsu! \ mir Verstand und Treu \ Daß ich dein Jün= \ ger ewig Sey.

XII. Zwölf. \ Der Apostel Christus sand. \ zu Predigen durch alle Land, \ Das Evangelium klar und \ rein, Herr laß mich auch \ ein Hörer seyn, Ein Glau= \ bens Thäter auch dar= \ bey, Auf daß mirs \ Nutz und Selig \ Sey.

Christian House Blessing with meditations on the twelve hours.

House blessing.
Gracious God! I commend you wife and children, body and soul, possessions and goods, station and trade, everything may be in your hand. Lord! The light is newly arisen, and the joyful day is at hand, night and darkness have passed, all the world is once again alert. Thanks to you for your protecting against terror, fear and lightning. Thanks to your angel guard against Satan’s art and power, that he did not bring me harm as he tried and plotted. Grant that I and my charges today also will receive your grace. May your faithfulness, grace and mercy preserve me from sins and shame; that I do everything well, and act according to Christian duty. Let your hosts of angels protect me everywhere I go, that I may walk in their protection, love you and serve my neighbor, and so forth in all things spend this day well, this and many days without grief, complaint and worriment. Over me and all of my own spread the light of your grace, bless me in my station, bless my work and hand, bless, Lord, my whole house, and whatever goes in and out. Bless, Jesus, I beg you, bless us at every turn, everything I begin, Jesus, shall be done with you. May God grant that it remains like this, Lord, on your goodness and faithfulness. And in your name, Jesus, be my pleas, yes and amen. Anno Domini 1785.

1. One is God whose name is Almighty, and is one with son and ghost, who created everything and guards over us. One faith, too, that makes us blessed, one Mediator who died on the cross and earned us life for us.

2. Two testaments God made, the Old one was done away by Christ, and made us new through the New one. See, how great his goodness is.

3. Three estates has God ordained, and lets them by subject to his command. The estates of teaching, defense and food are under your hand of grace. O! Preciously linked band of harmony. Your heart, o man, is known to God.

4. Four final things remain in the future, for this, my heart, prepare yourself. Who does not do this in his lifetime is lost in eternity and misses by far the path to Heaven. O! prepare yourself.

5. Five wounds bore my Jesus, that cleansed me of my sins. From these wounds crimson-red flows my comfort in straits of death, so that they are like five refuges where my soul finds peace, when it is beset by hell and death, as soon as it turns to the same.

6. Six days God ordained on which man shall work; how badly will be the one who wants to be idle every day, spends his time in sin, and does not think of eternity. Has never observed the Sabbath which GOD made for rest; grant that I think well of this.

7. Seven The words spoke Jesus Christ as He! died on the cross. May he grant that at my end his last words may also be mine. Then I will fall asleep blessedly.

8. Eight souls God received in the ark [built] for the deluge of water. May he also recognize my soul in every fear, need and danger, and lead me finally to himself in his realm of joy.

9. Nine out of ten are ungrateful, one recognizes the act of goodness clearly; Lord Jesus, grant that I will also be always thankful for your goodness, love and faithfulness here on earth, and at last be every blessed.

10. Ten commandments has God given, to live after always. But became I am too weak for this, Lord Jesus, do your best so that I will through your spirit’s power exercise a noble knighthood.

11. Eleven disciples of Jesus! remained faithful. Judas was gratified by the money. Grant me, Jesus! reason and faithfulness, so that I will be your disciple forever.

12. Twelve apostles Jesus sent, to preach throughout the land the Gospel clear and pure. Lord, let me, too, be a hearer and also do the works of faith, that it may be of use and blessing for me.

The heart’s little bell, Jesus, strike at my heart, stir up my conscience, so that from my pain of sin hot tears my flow. Gaze upon at me like Petrus, that I may strike myself inside, that I may remember it and not despair. Awaken me by the knell of the bell from the sleep of sin; let me for my guilt

find mercy, and take me up in grace. Strengthen my faith, so that my entire path of life will be full of virtuous works. Your blood be my juice of life, and my comfort in suffering, my soul’s strength and power, so that I will die with joy in the hour of the final need, if you think of me and give me a blessed end in death, o Jesus!
