David Staufer \ Gehöret dieses Brieflein d. 24tenSeptember 1794 \ Mach dich mit Jesu Recht bekant und sitz zu seinen Füssen dage \ be ihm die rechte Hand und sag Heyland Ach lasse mich dich küssen.
Translation:
To David Staufer belongs this little letter, the 24th of September, 1794. Become well acquainted with Jesus and sit to his feet. Give him your right hand and say, Savior, oh let me kiss you.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. In the center of the document is the text. The name in Fraktur is written is large and decorated letters. The remainder of the text in German script is below it. Various flowers, leafy vines and birds are in the area next to and above the name. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. Christian Alsdorff is also known as the Earl Township Artist.
