Translation:

My dearest little Jesus, make yourself a little bed, soft, undefiled, to rest within my heart, that I may never forgot you.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in German script is within an oval frame comprised of a green wreath and four small red flowers in the center of the document. The text is stanza 13 of the popular Christmas hymn “Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her (From Heaven Above to Earth I come) which was written by Martin Luther in 1534. Christmas greetings such as this example are thought to be Moravian in origin.
