Translation:

To these two married people, namely Johannes Merkie and his lawful wife Barbara a son was born into the world as follows: Johannes was born into the world in the year of our Lord Jesus 1769, the 9th February, was baptized the 19th of same month. The sponsors were Johannes Anspach and his wife Anna Elisabeth.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script covers the right portion of the document. The first letter of the child’s name is prominently written on the left side with elaborate scrolled calligraphic ornaments. Four lines in German script at the bottom of the item are faded and no longer legible.
