Certificate of Birth and Baptism \ Mr. Johannes Nies, ein Sohn von Mr. David Nies \ und seiner Ehefrau Susanna eine geborne Kirchstetter, wurde \ gebohren den 30^ten November 1831 in Penn Taunschip Center \ County im Staate Pennsylvanien und getauft den 19^ten \ April 1332 vom Pfarrer J. F. Abele. Die Taufzeugen waren \ Mr. Leonhard Kirchstetter und seine Ehefrau \ Elizabeth.

Certificate of Birth and Baptism
Mr. Johannes Nies, a son of Mr. David Nies and his lawful wife Susanna, a born Kirchstetter, was born the 30th of November 1831 in Penn Township, Centre County, in the state of Pennsylvania, and baptized the 19th of April 1332 from Pastor J. F. Abele. The sponsors were Mr. Leonhard Kirchstetter and his lawful wife Elizabeth.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and Roman print is in the upper center of the document. In the upper corners are two stars. In the center of the document are a woman and a man who are facing each other and holding hands. The woman is dressed in a long dress with small flowers. She is wearing a comb in her hair. The man is dressed in long pants and a tailcoat. He is holding a bouquet of flowers in one hand. Between the two is a table with a vase.
