Translation:

Praise the [text breaks off]
Praise the Lord in his sanctuary; praise him in his firmament; praise him in his deeds; praise him in his mighty splendor; praise him with trombones; praise him with Psalter and harps; praise him with drums and dances; praise him with strings and flutes; praise him with high cymbals; praise him with sell sounding cymbals. Everything that has a breath, praise the Lord. Hallelujah.
I was young and became old and I have never seen the righteous abandoned or his offspring begging for bread. He is always merciful and gives happily and freely. Offspring will always be blessed because the Lord holds this quite dear and does not leave his holy. Constantly they will be preserved but the godless offspring will be exterminated. Georg Ackerman, 1785.

Category: Writing Exercise (Vorschrift)
Media Type: Manuscripts

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text, with the first line in prominent and decorated Fraktur and the remainder in German script, extends across the entire document. Beneath the first letter on the left side are ornately drawn calligraphic scrolls that are adorned by flowers and a bird. Small scrolls and decorative elements are along the upper edge. Decorative borders divide the text into three sections. The inscription on the reverse, which is pencilled in German script, clarifies that Georg Ackerman is the owner rather than the maker of this fraktur.
