[along lower edge]
There is dew for the flowret, \ and honey for the bee, \ And bowers for the wild birds, \ And love for you and me.
There are tears for the many, \ And pleasures for the few, \ But let the world pass on, dear, \ There is love for you and me.
There is care that will not leave us, \ And Pain that will not flee, \ But on our hearth unulred; \ Sits love tween you and me.
Our love it never was reckoned, \ Yet good it is and true, \ It’s half the word to me, dear; \ It’s all the world to you.

[in knot]
To the fairest of the female sex I send an emblem of my love without an end crossing winding turning in an out never ceasing turning round about as you see it lying and turns here so close thy beauty prove to be a snare therfore dear creature let they goodness shine in beams of comfort from a passive mind so that the ravished soul raised by thy smiles may pass to rural bliss forgetting all its toiles forgetting all its toiles so that true love may be still in blissful action and ever more be tending to perfection that all the crosses in the lot of love may be disdained if you will constant prove now lovely fair at all times him Remember that gave this knot the [blank] of [blank] Anno Domini 18 [blank]
