Gott du bist noch heut so \ Reich, liebes Kind Machs du es gleich, Geden= \ cke, nur an deinen Gott, der versorgt dich in der \ Noth, Halte nur Beständig aus; So Kommst du \ ins Gottes Hauß, Liebe feind so wohl als freund \ So hast du es Treu gemeint, ehre Vater und \ Mutter wohl, wie es billig ia sein soll; Amen
Geschrieben, den 19ten Februarius 1799
 


Translation:

God, you are so rich today, dear child, do the same. Think only of your God who takes care of you in need. Persevere steadfastly and you will come into God’s house. Love foe as well as friend, thus you have meant it well. Honor father and mother well, as should be proper. Amen.
Written on the 19th of February 1799.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur within a rectangular frame is in the center of the document. In the upper center is a winged head beneath an arch. Above it are two circles and several flowers. In the upper left corner is a lion, and in the upper left corner is a unicorn. Both are tethered to the center frame by a rope. In the lower corners are two pairs of parrots. Each pair is surrounded by a profusion of flowery vines that emerge from a pot. In the lower center are various flowers, including a large tulip.

Christian Beschler was formerly known as the Sussel-Unicorn Artist.
