Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. In the center of the document is Jesus on the cross. He is wearing a crown of thorns, and blood is flowing from his hands and feet. The ground beneath the cross is covered with various plants, including flowers, grass, and small trees. The scene is framed by two columns that are topped by an arch. A verse in Fraktur is written in the arch. In the upper center is a star and in the upper corners are flowers. Another verse in Fraktur is within a rectangular frame that is decorated by undulating vines and flowers, is in the lower portion of the document. The entire document is framed by a decorative border.
According to a notation on the mat, this Fraktur was originally bound into a copy of Der Blutige Schauplatz (Ephrata, 1748 [-1751] that belonged to Samuel Miller.
