IN GOTTES Namen geh ich aus. \ Ach Herr! regier du heut das Haus: Die Hausfrau und die Kinder mein \ Laß dir, O GOTT! befohlen seyn. Bewahr mein Herze, Mund und Hand \ Vor grossen Lastern und vor Schand: Gib, daß ich mein Sach wohl richt aus, Und \ wieder frölich komm zu Haus, Daß solches, O getreuer HErr! Gereichen möcht \ zu deinen Ehr. O! leite mich im Segen, dem grossen ziel entgegen, dahin \ den wort mich weißt. Mein leben und mein ende ist dein, in deine Hände \ befehl ich meinen Geist. Hüt dich, fluch nicht in meinem Haus, oder \ geh bald zur Thür hinaus: E möcht sonst Gott von Himmelreich, Strafen mich \ und dich zugleich. 
 

Translation:

In God’s name I go out. O Lord! you rule my house. Let the wife and the children of mine, o God, be commended to you. Preserve my heart, mouth and hand from great vices and from shame. Grant that I do my work well and return home happily, that this, o Lord, may suffice for your glory. O, guide me in blessing toward the great goal, to where the word points me. My life and my end are yours, in your hands I command my spirit. Take care, do not curse in my house, or go soon out the door. Otherwise God will punish me and you at the same time from the kingdom of heaven.
