Translation:

Whoever learns to walk before God in his heart, outwardly does not act deceitfully, has reached his time and fortune. If he is patient in everything and lives innocently before everyone, and also remains silent when it is going badly, if he laughs in everything he does about the foolishness of the world and does not give in in distress, he has attained the highest goal. And though he is sometimes hard oppressed he has thereby inherited God’s Kingdom

[in center]
The wondrous power from above must always preserve our way here in righteousness.

This belongs to me, Anna Maria Brubacherin.

Written in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety, on the 24th day of August.

Whoever wants to laugh about this work I advice to do it better.

[left side]
Be glad to be with pious people.

[right side]
Keep devout at all times.

[in heart on left]
If you still have something in your life that you cannot give away willingly lay your heart open before the Lord so that he may help you loosen the bands.

[in heart on right]
God has so few hearts in which he can live and rest. O! Give him completely the one that’s yours; this good becomes common gladly.
