Diesen beyden Ehegatten, als Isaac Schumacher und seiner \ ehlichen Hausfrau Elisa: Catharina eine gebohrne Zimmermännin \ ist eine Tochter zur Welt gebohren, als Catharina Schumacherin \ ist zur Welt gebohren im Jahr unsers HErrn JEsu 1787 den 7. \ Tag Aprill um [blank] Uhr [blank] im Zeichen de [blank] 

GOTT gebe Gnad, Kraft und Stärke, daß dieser Catharina in der Furcht zum Lob und Preis des \ HERRN möge aufwachsen und zunehmen in groser Begierde der vernünftigen lautern Milch, das ursprüngliche Heil der Seelen zu \ suchen, nach abgelegtem Glaubens=bekänntniß und Erkäntniß der Sünde durch wahre Reu und Buse, vor der Christlichen Gemeinde, zur \ geistlichen Wiedergeburt der Heiligen Tauf befördert, und von Herrn Herman Prediger und Diener \ des Worts, nach Christi Befehl, Mathäi 28, v. 19. getauft und in den Gnaden=Bund Gottes einverleibet worden. Diese Catharina \ ist, als ein Glied in die Gemeinschaft der Heiligen, durch das Bad der Wiedergeburt und Erneuerung \ des Heiligen Geistes, wie St. Paulus lehret, Titum 3, v. 5. 6. 7. zu der Refor: Religion ist auf= und angenommen worden, \ den [blank] ten Tag [blank] \ 17[blank] und durch den wahren Glauben an unsren Erlöser JEsu Christo, des so theuer erworbenen \ Verdienstes, der himmlischen Freuden, und der ewigen Seligkeit Erben eingesetzet. Mithin vergiß nicht wie der Apostel Paulus, Colosser 1, v. 12, \ 14. die Pflicht beschreibet. Saget Dank dem Vater der uns tüchtig gemacht hat, zum Erbtheil der Heiligen im Licht, u. s. w.

Wann wir kaum gebohren werden, ist vom ersten Lebenstritt bis ins kühle Grab der Erden, Nur ein kurz gemessner Schritt. \ Ach mit jedem Augenblick! Gehet unsre Kraft zurück, Und wir sind mit jedem Jahre, allzu reif zur Todtenbahre, Und wer \ weiß in welcher Stunde, uns die lezte Stimme weckt: Dann GOtt hat’s mit seinem Munde, keinem Menschen noch entdeckt. \ Wer sein Haus nun wohl bestellt geht mit Freuden aus der Welt. Da die \ Sicherheit hingegen; Ewigs Sterben kan erregen.

Translation:

To these two married people namely Isaac Schumacher and his lawful wife Elisa. Catharina, a born Zimmermännin, a daughter was born into the world named Catharina Schumacherin, was born into the world in the year of our Lord Jesus 1787, the 7th day of April, at [blank] o’clock [blank] in the sign of [blank].

May God give grace, power and strength so that this Catharina may grow up in the spirit of praise and honor of the LORD, and eagerly consume the true milk, to search for the original salvation of the souls after his profession of faith and realization of sin through sincere repentance. Before the Christian congregation she was brought to the spiritual rebirth of the holy baptism, and she was baptized by Mister Herman, preacher and servant of the Word, according to the command of Christ, Matthew 28:19, and he was included into God’s covenant of grace. This Catharina was, through the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost, as St. Paul teaches, Titus 3: 5, 6, 7, was admitted and accepted into the Reformed religion on the [blank] day of [blank] 17[blank] and through the true faith in our savior Jesus Christ is taking part in the dearly bought rewards of heavenly joys and the eternal blessedness of the earth. Do not forget the way in which the apostle Paul, Colossians 1:12, 14, described the duty to give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light, etc.
The sponsors were Conrad Schumacher and his wife Maria.
This Catharina was born and baptized in America, in the state of Pennsylvania, in Northampton County, in Williams Township.

Scarcely born into the world, it is only a short measured pace from the first step to the cool grave in the earth. O with every moment! Our strength diminishes, and with every year we grow more ripe for the bier. And who knows in what hour the final voice will awaken us, because God has not revealed this to anybody yet. Who tends to his house will depart from the world with joy. Because surety, in contrast, can provoke eternal death.
