Translation:
Fear God alone who can damn body and soul to hellish pain. Bear your cross patiently on earth or else it will be as in God’s Word. Love your neighbor like yourself so that you will be God’s disciple. Yes, for all sadness, fear and need, only with God seek help and advice. Turn to God and he will turn to you, and be blessed, learn from Christ Jesus the Lord, the gentle one, and obey him. Sadly bear also suffering, need, hate and anger, also shame with [ill.]

Notes:
Attributed by Donald A. Shelley to Christian Peters. A dated 1777 vorschrift by Peters gives a location in Switzerland. See also FLP 1193, 1194, and 1195 for related examples; traces of stitching along the left margin suggests the four papers once formed part of a booklet. See also FLP 1197.
Notes:
Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The prominent and richly decorated first letter of the first word is on the left side of the document. The text in Fraktur and German script is to its right.
