Marci, 10, 13-16. “Und sie brachten die Kindlein zu Jesu, daß er sie anrührete. \ Die Jünger aber fuhren die an, die sie trugen; da es aber Jesu sahe, ward er unwillig, und \ sprach zu ihnen: Lasset die Kindlein zu mire kommen, und wehret ihnen nicht, denn solcher ist \ das Reich Gottes. Wahrlich! Ich sage euch: Wer das Reich Gottes nicht empfähet als ein \ Kindlein, der wird nicht hinein kommen. Und er herzete sie, und legte die Hände auf sie und \ segnete sie.”

2. Du hast zu deinem Kind und Erben, \ Mein lieber Vater, mich erklärt; \ Du hast die Frucht von deinem Sterben, \ Mein treuer Heiland, mir gewährt; \ Du willst, mein Leben Gott zu weih'n, \ Geist Gottes! selbst mein Beystand seyn!
3. Die Liebe ist nicht zu ermessen, \ Die du, mein Gott, mir zugewandt! \ O! laß mich nie die Pflicht vergessen, \ Dazu ich selbst mich dir verband, \ Als Du in deinen Bund mich nahmst, \ Und mir mit Heil entgegen kamst!

Mark 10: 13-16. “And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. “
Baptismal Song.
1. I am baptized in your name, God, Father, Son and Holy Ghost. I am counted as one of your seeds, to a people that you blessed. I have been entered into Christianity, I have been granted your spirit.
2. My loving Father, You have declared me to be Your child; my faithful Savior, You have offered me the fruits of Your death; in all need and suffering, good spirit, you want to be my comfort.
3. The love cannot be measured, that You, my God, gives to me. O, let me never forget the duty to which I bound myself to you, when you took me into your covenant and came toward me with salvation.
4. My faithful God, this covenant surely will abide on your side; however, when I transgress it don’t let me get lost! Take me, your child, with mercy, when I have committed a fall.
5. I give once again to you, my God, soul and body as sacrifice. Awaken me to new faith, and form me according to your sense. There shall not be a drop of blood in me that does not, o Lord, do your will.
6. Secure this my promise, my Father! and protect me, that I will never break it, praise you my whole life! God my salvation may be forever mine, and let me be yours forever too!
The one who signed at the end, a preacher of the Evangelism, testifies herewith, that on the date noted below, the married couple Johann Christoph Müller, Doctor of Medicine, born in Marburg, Hesse, Germany, and Agnesia Müller, born Reutel, born in Allendorf in den Sooden, Hesse, Germany, brought a child of male gender, conceived within their lawful marriage, to the act of holy baptism, and he received the name Johann Daniel Müller.
This child was born in Butler, Butler County, in the state of Pennsylvania, on the 18th day of the month February in the year of the Lord and Savior 1844. Sponsor was the brother of the father, Johann Daniel Müller, born in Marburg, Hesse, Germany. Given on the 4th of April 1844. Gottlieb Bassler V[erbi] D[ivini] M[agister]

The document is framed by a printed border of flowers, various geometric shapes and spirals. The abbreviation v d m after the pastor’s name stands for verbi divini magister, which means Teacher of God’s Word.
