Category: Marriage Certificate (Trauschein)
Media Type: Manuscripts

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text in German script is in the lower center of the document. In the upper center is a crown. Both are below an arched border that is inscribed by text in German script. In the lower corners are two birds, and in the upper corners are various flowers, including tulips.

The colors and bird motifs are similar to those used by Friedrich Krebs, while the rosettes relate to ones drawn by an unknown artist on a birth and baptismal certificate for Johannes Stotzer, born 11/15/1751 in Strasburg, New Jersey.  This Johannes Stotzer may be related to the Johannes Stotzer who was married in 1777 as recorded on this marriage certificate.
