Notes:
This original artist's sketch of the Franklin Print Shop was created for the Public Ledger, ca. 1923. Since Benjamin Franklin's actual print shop was built in 1787, and demolished in 1812, this illustration is an artist's conception (perhaps based on illustrations in Franklin's own publications) of what the print shop might have looked like. Note the woman's dress, typical of fashion in the 1920s.
Today, there is a "ghost structure" of tubular steel located in Franklin Court, where the print shop used to be. Elsewhere in this historic courtyard is a recreation of the print shop, where colonial-period printing demonstrations are conducted.
