Diesen beyden Ehegatten, als Thomas Kannele [?] und seiner ehelichen Haus= \ Frau Magdalena Einer gebohrne Müllerin ist ein Töchterlein zur Welt \ gebohren, als Rahel ist zur Welt gebohren im Jahr unsers HErrn JEsu 1775 \ den 7ten Tag Junius um [blank Uhr [blank] im Zeichen dem \ Wag \ GOTT gebe Gnad, Kraft und Stärke, daß diese Rahel in der Furcht zum Lob und Preiß des HERRN möge aufwachsen und zunehmen in großer Begierde der \ vernünftigen lautern Milch, das ursprüngliche Heil der Seelen zu suchen, nach abgelegtem Glaubens=Bekänntniß und Erkäntniß der Sünde durch wahre Reu und Buße, vor der Christlichen Gemeinde, zur geistlichen Wiedergeburt der Heiligen Taufe, und von Herr Bucher Prediger und Diener des Worts, nach Christi Befehl, Mathäi 28, v. 19. getauft und in den Gnadenbund Gottes einverleibt worden. Diese Rahel ist, als ein Glied in die Gemeinschaft der Heiligen, durch das Bad der Wiedergeburt \ und Erneuerung des Heiligen Geistes, wie St. Paulus lehret, Titum 3, v. 5, 6, 7, in die Reformirtlich ist auf- und angenommen worden, den 7ten Tag Jullius \ 1775 und durch den wahren Gauben an unsern Erlöser JEsu Christo, des so theuer erworbenen Verdienstes, der himmlischen Freuden, und der ewigen Seligkeit Erben eingesetzet. Mithin vergiß \ nicht, wie der Apostel Paulus, Colosses 1, v. 12, 14. die Pflicht beschreibet. Saget Dank dem Vater der uns tüchtig gemacht hat, zum Erbtheil der Heiligen im Licht. u. s. w. \ Trauzeigen David Weyand und seine Ehfrau \ Diese Rahel ist gebohren und getauft in America, im Staat \ Pensilvanie in Lancaster Caunty in Rowo Taunschip \ Wann wir kaum gebohren warden, Ist vom ersten Lebenstritt bis ins kühle Grab der Erden, Nur ein Kurz gemessener Schritt. \ Ach mit jedem Augenblick! Gehet unsre Kraft zurück, Und wir sind mit jedem Jahre, \ allzu reiff zur Todtenbahre. Ich bin getauft, ob ich gleich sterbe, \ Was schadet mir das kühle Grab? \ Ich weiß mein Vaterland und Erbe, \ Daß ich bey Gott im Himmel hab, \ Nach meinem Tod, ist mir \ bereit, Des Himmels \ Freud, das Feuer= \ Kleid.
 

Translation:

To these two married people, namely Thomas Kannele [?] and his lawful wife Magdalena, a born Müllerin, a daughter was born into the world, named Rahel, was born into the world in the year of our lord Jesus 1775, the 7th day of June at [blank] o’clock [blank] in the sign of Libra. GOD grant her grace, strength and power, so that she will grow in fear to praise and acclaim of the LORD and absorb in great eagerness the reasonable, pure milk, to search for the original salvation of the soul, after confession and recognition of sin through sincere remorse and penitence in front of the Christian community, and brought to the spiritual rebirth of the holy baptism, and she was baptized by Mister Bucher, preacher and servant of the Word, according to Christ’s command, Matthew 28:19, and incorporated into the covenant of God. Admitted as a member of the community of the blessed through the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost, as St. Paul teaches, Titus 3:5, 6, 7, this Rahel was admitted to the Reformed church, on the 7th day of July, and through the true faith in our savior Jesus Christ, became an heir of the so dearly acquired reward of heavenly joys and heavenly blessedness. Don’t forget how the Apostle Paul, Colossians 1:12, 14, describes the obligation. Say thanks to the father who has prepared us for the inheritance of the Holy in the light, etc. Sponsors David Weyand and his wife. This Rahel was born and baptized in America, in the state of Pennsylvania, in Lancaster County, in Rapho Township.
Scarcely born into the world, it is only a short measured pace from the first step to the cool grave in the earth. O with every moment! Our strength diminishes, and with every year we grow more ripe for the bier. And who knows in what hour the final voice will awaken us, because God has not revealed this to anybody yet.
Who tends to his house will depart from the world with joy. Because surety, in contrast, can provoke eternal death.

I am baptized, I stand united with my God through my baptism. I therefore always speak joyfully in hardship, sadness, fear and need. I am baptized, that’s a joy for me. The joy lasts eternally.

I am baptized, and when I die, how can the cool grave hurt me? I know my fatherland and legacy that I will have with God in Heaven. After death, Heaven’s garment of joy and celebration is prepared for me.

Hand-colored; hand-lettered; letter-press printed form. The main text is within large printed heart in the center. The two printed verses are in hearts in the lower corners. The large heart is surrounded by flowering vines and two angels at the bottom; rosettes, tulips, and two parrots at the sides; and two small birds and two large parrots at the top, with a crown motif in the top center.
