Translation:

To these two married people, namely Joseph Hess and his lawful wife Cathrina, a born Weberin, was born a daughter into the world, named Susana, in the year of the Lord Jesus 1811, the 15th day of March, 6 o’clock in the afternoon, in the sign of [blank]. This Susana was born and baptized in the state of Pennsylvania, Bucks County, Springfield Township. Susana was baptized on [blank] by Willem Degham, reformed preacher. Sponsors were Michael Wisch and Susana Hess, single persons.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in German script within central large heart, flanked by two smaller hearts in lower corners with a vine and bird, as well as stemmed flowers and tulips. For related examples by this artist, see FLP 33, 34, and 352.

Susanna's father, Joseph Hess, was a musician and choir leader in Spring field Township, Bucks Co., PA, and a schoolmaster at the Franklin or Octagon school.
