Translation:

[in heart]
Help, Gott, at all times; make us ready for eternal joy and blessedness, Amen.

[on left]
Set your trust alone in God, don’t build on the help of people; God alone holds faith, otherwise there is no more faith in the world.

[on right]
All that is my doing and beginning shall take place in the name of Jesus Christ, who stands by me early and late, until all my doing comes to an end.

[in script below]
Written by me, Jacob S. Bicksler, in the year anno 1829 February 7th 1829 .

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. A heart containing the first section of text in Fraktur is in the upper center. Below it is a large pot with flowering, leafy vines, flanked by two verses. In the upper corners are two large crowns, and in the upper center above the heart are two small ones. At the lower right is the artist’s signature and the date in Roman script. The entire document is framed by a wide checked border, which is within a sawtooth border. This is the only known fraktur by Bicksler, who was strongly influenced by the artist John William Bernthausel. Bernthausel made fraktur for people in Berks and Lancaster Counties, Pennsylvania.
