Befiehl dem Herrn Deine Wege und Hoffe Auf Ihn Er Wirds Wohl \ Machen, Und wird deine Berechtigkeit hervor bringen. Wie das Licht, Und dein recht Wie den Mitta \ Ps 37 v 5 \
1. Du armes hertz was zagest du, und kränkelst deinen Sinnen. Gott selber Gönnt dir die Ruh, wilst sie dir mißgonnen wann \ nach begehr es nicht gehther, was darfst du dich drum Grämen. Gott lebet doch das Glaub ich noch, der Mag es auf sich nehmen. \ 2. Dort oben sitzt der grosse Man. der diese Welt regieret, der alle Ding vermag und kan, und wunderthätig führet, mit Vorbe= \ dacht, die Gottes macht. verwaltet alle sachen, Gott herrschet doch das Glaub ich noch, und laß Ihn weißlich machen. \ [3.] Wie wann und wo und wieso heißt, sodann daß muß geschehen, was er von dir bey sich beschließt, das soll und muß gesch= \ ehen. Rath Witz und Kunst ist Gantz umsonst, läßt Gott es nicht gerathen, Gott führt mich doch, das Glaub ich noch in \ Allen meinen Thaten. 4. Die Gaben seiner Gütigkeit, Theilt er auß nach Gefallen, und mit gewissem unterschied \ Er schenckt nicht alles allen, dort gibt er viel sie setzt er ziel und hält die Maas im Geben Gott giebet doch das glaub ich noch \ die Nothdurfft nimmer leben. 5. Dem Gibt er Reichthum jenem nicht, der kan sich kaum Ernähren, der ist gelehrt, dem Witz \ Gebricht der niedrig der in Ehren. So ists bestellt, so wird die Welt durch Ordnung ret erhalten. Gott hauset noch das \ Glaub ich doch, und laß ihn Immer walten. 6. Hier nächst will er die Arbeit auch, stets angegriffen haben, und herscht \ von dir den rechten brauch des leibs und Seelen Gabe. Drum nicht vergrab sie deine Gab, und allen fleiß anwende. \ Gott nährt mich auf, das glaub ich noch, leg Ich nur an die Hände.

Translation:

Command your ways to the Lord and trust in him; He will do it right, and will bring forth your righteousness like the light, and your right like the noon. Psalms 37:5.

1. You poor heart, why are you trembling, and grow sick in your senses. God himself is granting you rest; do you want to deprive yourself of it. When things are not going as you would like, don’t be upset about it. God still lives, that I still believe, he will take it upon himself. 2. Up there sits the great man who rules this world, who can do all things and leads wonderfully. With forethought, God’s power rules all things, God still rules, that I still believe, and let him wisely carry on. [3.] How, when and where and why means that it must then happen. Whatever he decides he wants from you, that has to and must happen. Counsel, wit and art are in vain, if God does not let it succeed. God is still leading me, this I still believe, in all my doings. 4. The gifts of his goodness he distributes according to his pleasure. And with a certain distinction he does not give everything to everybody. There he gives a lot; for them he sets bounds and keeps the giving within measure. God gives still, this I still believe, that nobody lives in need. 5. He does not give wealth to those, who can barely feed himself; he is learned to whom wit is endowed, the lowly one is honored. So it is determined, so the world is firmly preserved through order. God still dwells, this I still believe, and let him always reign. 6. Here next he also constantly takes hold of the work, and in you prevails the right habit of the gifts of body and soul. Therefore do not bury your gifts, but employ all industry. God nourishes me, this I still believe, if I only use my hands.

Small leafy tulips and other flowers decorate the spaces above the text. The two opening lines are Psalms 37:5, 6.
The pairs of alternate striped and solid green leaves relate to known work by Johann Adam Eyer. See FLP 413 for a fraktur with the first four stanzas of the text.
