Translation:

My Eyes Look For

[1] Is or is my spirit delighted. My eye has now seen something. I see the sky opened. I see God’s throne, at the right Jesus, God’s son, on whom we all hope. Sing, ring, play on sharp David’s harps; rejoice with all your heart, Jesus stills all pain.

[2] I see, he makes everything new. The bride goes to him without shyness in pure, beautiful silk. The clothing is stitched with gold; the bridegroom himself has adorned them with precious necklaces. Master, Spirit, cherubim, seraphim, wish good fortune. Jesus are giving their glance of love.

[3] The bride is conscious of nothing but light; God see pleasure in her beauty. She glows in the sun. She is led into the bride’s palace, into the house of joy to such a rest, to her king’s delight. Complaints, despair, the heat of the sun, thunders, lightning have disappeared; God’ lamb has overcome.

4) God has refreshed them from the stream; wiped the tears from their eyes. God comes to live with them; he wants to be their God, they his people, alone with him go out and in. How richly can God reward. Trust, see, God’s goodness, God’s shelter for the children, lives with converted sinners.

5) How holy is the new city, which God and the lamb have made into a temple, which has as its foundation the twelve apostles. Nothing common enters here. Whoever is angry must be banned; his part [text breaks off]

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text extends across the entire document. The first four words are written in Fraktur, with the remainder of the text in German script. The first letter of the text is particularly prominent and ornamental.
According to Frederick S. Weiser, the hymn text on this fraktur was intended to be sung to the German chorale tune “Wie schön leuchtet der Morgenstern.”
