Additional Title: The Tailor of Gloucester

Notes:

Beatrix Potter wrote this story, accompanied by 12 watercolor illustrations, and gave it to Freda Moore (the daughter of her friend and former governess) as a Christmas gift. Around the same time, she prepared an abridged version, with both redrawn and new illustrations, for private publication in a limited edition. In 1903 came a further shortened version, published by Frederick Warne & Co, with more redrawn and new illustrations. The Rare Book Department also owns several copies of both the privately printed and the Warne 1903 first edition, although this manuscript is one-of-a-kind.
