Hand-drawn; hand-colored. In the center of the drawing is a bird perched on a leafy, flowering tree. A decorative cross-hatched border runs along the bottom edge. The drawing was completed in black ink.
Small drawings, often lacking inscriptions and referred to as bookmarks by collectors, were given by schoolmasters to their students as rewards for good behavior and scholastic accomplishments.
