Hand-drawn; hand-colored. The drawing features a bird on a leafy branch with a flower or bud. At the base of the branch are what appear to be a pair of intertwined initials, possibly FD.
Small drawings, often lacking inscriptions and referred to as bookmarks by collectors, were given by schoolmasters to their students as rewards for good behavior and scholastic accomplishments.
