Mensch O Mensch du ebenbild,. Wie erzeigst \ du dich so wilt, sorgest nur dein Lebenlang, für \ die kleider Speiß und trank, denke doch an jenen \ Tag daman ewig leben mag, mit den kleidern \ angethan, die niemand zerreissen \ kann, geschrieben im \ Jahr 1823

Nicht alles geht von herzengrund, Wie schön und lieblich red der mund

Leben wir so leben wir dem Herrn, \ darum wir leben oder sterben, \ sterben wir so sterben wir dem Herrn, \ so sind wir des Herrn.

Translation:

Man, O Man, you image of God, how you show yourself as wild, caring throughout your whole life only for clothing, food and drink. I think on that day when man shall live forever, dressed in clothes which no one can tear to pieces. Written in the year 1823.

Stay away from evil and do good, search peace and chase after it. Preserve your tongue from the evil and your lips so that they will not lie.

Don’t the little birds set their little tongues in motion as soon as day has dawned in the morning; they do not stop their thanks.

Not everything comes from the bottom of the heart. How beautiful and lovely speaks the mouth.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The main text within a heart is in the center of the document. In the lower center is a flowerpot with several flowers. Above the heart are two birds. In the upper corners are two compass work stars or rosettes. In the lower corners are two half-circles infilled with diamonds. The entire document is enclosed by a decorative border.
