Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script is in the center of the document. It is flanked on each side by a leafy plant with various flowers. The entire document is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate is in the tune book for which it was made. (PA GER Borneman 53)
This is one of the only tune books written in blue ink. There were eight-sided or "octagon" school buildings in Hilltown, New Britain, Plumstead, and several other townships in the 1840s. The back of the tune book contains information about a Kratz family's children, and includes death dates for David and Barbara Yothers and Jonas Myers.
For a related example, see FLP 1218.
