Dieses Neue Testament \ Gehöret Mir \ Jacob Hunsicker \ zu, sol es Nun verlohren gehn \ So kan Mann hir mein Nahmen sehn, in Skippack \ and Parkyoman Township wohne ich, Hernach \ vornehmlich richte dich, geschrieben den 15ten \ Tag December im jahr Christi Anno 1789 \ und Ist mir gekauft worden von meinem \ vatter Isaac Hunsicker, mir zur übung und Zur \ Lehr, und dem Ewigen Gott zur Ehr.


Translation:

This New Testament belongs to me, Jacob Hunsicker. Should it now get lost, one can see my name here. I reside in Skippack and Perkiomen Township. Hereafter direct yourself particularly. Written on the 15th day of December in the year of Christ Anno 1789, and was bought for me by my father Isaac Hunsicker, for my practice and instruction and the eternal God’s honor.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script extends across the document. In the center of the item are two tulips. The entire document is framed on the top and right by a decorative border. This bookplate is in Das Neue Testament (Germantaun: Michael Billmeyer, 1787)  (PA GER Germantown 1787 B471).
