Notes:
Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur extends across the entire document. The areas around it are decorated with a variety of flowers. In the upper right is a bird. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. This is one of two bookplates in the Reformed hymnal Das neue und verbesserte Gesangbuch (Germantaun, Pa,: Michael Billmeyer, 1799) (PA GER Germantown 1799 G31). The other bookplate, which is in the back of the book, notes the owner's birth date (FLP B-96b). An entry in German script in the back of the book notes that Catharina Schmidt was born in “Ritschland Taunschip,” and that she was married in 1814.
