Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur within an oval is in the center of the document. In the corners are circles with similar portraits of an unidentified person. The area around the circles is decorated with various flowers, including tulips. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. This leaf is inserted (unattached) in the Mennonite hymnal Die kleine geistliche Harfe (Germantaun: Michael Billmeyer, 1820).   (PA GER Germantown 1820 K673)   The name Jb. B. Wampole in Roman script is on the reverse of the leaf.

The bookplate likely predates the book.  Attributed to Johannes Mayer based on comparison of the handwriting as well as related decoration and composition of the central text within a red oval frame (see Amsler, p. 202).   Mayer's fraktur is notable for its unusual subjects and motifs, including some with portraits of Frederick the Great, crowns, and crosses.
