Dieses Schöne Gesangbuch gehöret \ Isaac Gross \ Geschrieben den 16ten Juni \ us Ano Domini \ 1793
Man Sehe Daniel des tages drey mal beten \ und solches stellt er auch nicht in verfolgung ein \ kan ich so offt nicht vor meinen Schöpfer tre \ ten so soll doch auch kein Tag leer vom ge= \ bäte seyn. Ich will zum wenigsten mein \ morgen opfer bringen und wann ich schla= \ fen gehe mein abendliedlein singen.
 

Translation:

This beautiful hymnal belongs to Isaac Gross. Written the 16th of June Anno Domini 1793.
They see Daniel pray three times a day and this he also does not seize during persecution. Even if I cannot go before me creator this often, no day shall be empty of prayer. At the least I want to bring my morning offering and when I go to sleep sing my little evening hymn.

Notes:

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script covers the lower portion of the document. It is flanked by two columns and surrounded by spirals and circular flowers. Above it is a vase with several flowers, including a tulip. The entire document is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate is in Das Neue Testament [Amsterdam, 1701]. An inscription in the front of the book notes in German that it was printed in 1701 and purchased in 1793 for 7/6. Another note states “John Stover, Johannes Stauffer, Bedminster Township, Bucks County.”  (PA GER Amsterdam 1701 B471)
