This beautiful hymnal belongs to me, Johannes Detürck, was born the 27th of April in the year of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 1787. in your youth you shall work diligently because work is hard when you are old. Give Jesus the heart at all times, in joy and in suffering, in life and death, this one thing is necessary. In Oley Township, Berks County.

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script covers the lower portion of the document. In the upper area is a bird next to a vase with flowers. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate is in the Lutheran hymnal Neu=vermehrtes vollständiges Gesang=Buch (Marburg, Germany: H. L.
