This is a ca. 1931 image, taken by amateur Philadelphia photographer Claude Alexander, showing a service station worker, giving a dog a drink of water. The gas pumps are labeled "Atlantic Refining Company," and "White Flash Plus (introduced in 1931)." The gasoline is also noted to contain lead ("tetraethyl"), and to be used only as fuel for cars.
